Travis Pastrana's New Gymkhana Car: A Wild Subaru Brat!

Gymkhana is back, and it's bringing some serious excitement along with it! This time, it’s showcasing a wild new creation called the “Brataroo 9500 Turbo.” This custom Subaru Brat made its debut at the 2025 SEMA show and is designed specifically for Gymkhana, known for its high-speed stunts and thrilling driving action.

The Brataroo is not your average car. It’s been built by Vermont SportsCar (VSC) and is packed with impressive features. It has a powerful 2.0-liter boxer engine that produces a whopping 670 horsepower and 680 pound-feet of torque. This insane power comes from a finely tuned engine, although specific details about how it's built remain a mystery. What we do know is that all this power is sent to all four wheels through a specialized gearbox.

One of the coolest things about the Brataroo is its custom body, which is entirely made from carbon fiber. This makes it super lightweight, and it also includes advanced features for controlling aerodynamics while driving. For example, the front fenders can pivot to help balance the car when it's in the air. The rear wing is another standout feature—it's fully adjustable mid-flight and can be switched between two sizes: one for maximum downforce and another for just having fun and shredding tires.

The overall design, created by Khyzyl Saleem (known as The Kyza online), ensures that this car looks as crazy as it performs. Inside the Brataroo, things get even more unusual. It includes a restored factory radio and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) unit, which are actually repurposed to help control the car's active aero features. Of course, the radio is just there for ambiance, making drives even more enjoyable.

Travis Pastrana, the driver behind this build, describes the Brataroo as "completely unhinged—in the best way possible." He highlights that it combines the classic spirit of a vintage Subaru with modern technology that allows it to perform stunts no other Gymkhana car has done before. It's built to withstand a lot of abuse while executing thrilling jumps and high-speed maneuvers.

The latest Gymkhana video featuring this wild ride, called “Aussie Shred,” is set to premiere in early December and was filmed in Australia. With Pastrana at the wheel, it’s expected to showcase even more daring stunts and heart-pounding excitement.
