Super Cool Family RV Is One of a Kind... Kind of
When Hip Campers first introduced the concept of the Hip 4Family premium RV, it seemed like it would revolutionize the motorhome industry. Offering dual lounges, a spacious kitchen, and an XXL bathroom, it promised to be like no other. However, as the model moved from concept to prototype to demonstrator, some changes were made that have altered its original innovative design.
The most significant change is the removal of the dual lounges in exchange for a fixed rear dinette and a front drop-down bed. While still functional, this modification eliminates the unique feature that set the Hip 4Family apart from other motorhomes. Furthermore, the kitchen has been redesigned to be longer with more prep space, but at the cost of a smaller fridge – not ideal for a family of four. Despite these alterations, the bathroom remains unchanged with a cassette toilet, flip-down sink, and shower wand.
The demonstrator model of the Hip 4Family comes with a Sprinter base, 170 hp, and a 9-speed automatic transmission, as well as luxurious features such as an Alpine audio system, dark leather décor, and solar panels. However, the available payload capacity has been reduced, and the overall length and weight of the motorhome may limit where it can be driven in Europe.
While the Hip 4Family still offers ample storage space and a sophisticated design, some of the changes may make it less appealing to those seeking a truly unique motorhome experience. Despite this, the model was recognized with the German Design Award for 2026 and continues to attract attention at events like the Dusseldorf Caravan Salon.
For those interested in purchasing the Hip 4Family, it is priced at €194,999 (approx. $225,000), making it a significant investment compared to other luxury motorhome options. As Hip Campers continues to refine their design and production process, potential buyers may want to consider how the changes impact the overall functionality and appeal of the Hip 4Family.
Overall, the Hip 4Family remains a luxury motorhome with innovative features, but some modifications may have affected its original uniqueness. As Hip Campers works towards bringing their vision to life, it will be interesting to see how the final product compares to the initial concept and whether it truly lives up to the claim of being “like no other.”
