MOTO GUZZI THE TRIP AIMS TO MAKE RIDING EASIER

Moto Guzzi’s upcoming The Trip roadster is designed to welcome newer riders without losing the distinctive look and feel of the Italian motorcycle brand. The company says the bike will combine manageable size and relaxed ergonomics with modern technology and an engine suited to both city streets and open roads.

The Trip has a stated kerb weight of 180 kilograms and a seat height starting at 790 millimetres. Its upright riding position is intended to feel natural, while its design aims to make low-speed tasks—such as turning in a tight space or moving through traffic—less stressful. Those features could make it appealing to riders who want an everyday motorcycle that is not intimidating to handle.

Moto Guzzi’s pitch is that enjoyable riding does not have to be about chasing the highest possible speed or power. Instead, The Trip is presented as a way to make ordinary rides easier and more enjoyable, whether that means commuting through town or taking a quick ride after work.

CLASSIC LOOK WITH MODERN DETAILS

The Trip brings a new, minimal design to the Moto Guzzi lineup. Its styling uses simple shapes and balanced proportions, with a black twin-cylinder engine as a visual centrepiece. The metal fuel tank holds 15 litres, giving the motorcycle a practical size for regular use, while the round LED headlight gives a modern touch to a familiar motorcycle shape.

The cockpit includes a circular 3.6-inch TFT display. It shows important riding information and can connect to a smartphone. Backlit handlebar switches are intended to be easier to see in the dark, and the model name is embroidered on the seat.

ENGINE AND RIDING MODES

The Trip’s in-line, two-cylinder engine is shared with the Aprilia Tuono 457, according to the announcement. It produces 48 metric horsepower at 9,400 revolutions per minute and 43.5 newton-metres of torque at 6,700 rpm. That output is designed to fit the A2 motorcycle licence power limit used in some markets.

Moto Guzzi says the engine is tuned to deliver power smoothly, with much of its pulling force available at lower engine speeds. In everyday riding, that could mean fewer gear changes in stop-and-go traffic. The company also says the bike should have enough power for riders to enjoy faster roads and winding routes.

The chassis uses a steel trellis frame, rather than the aluminium bridge frame used by its sister brand’s comparable model. The front suspension is an upside-down fork, while the rear wheel is supported by an aluminium swingarm and a directly mounted shock absorber. These parts are intended to provide the structure and suspension needed for ordinary road riding.

ELECTRONICS AND AVAILABILITY

The motorcycle uses an electronic ride-by-wire throttle, which allows it to offer three riding modes. Road mode is aimed at smooth everyday use. Sport mode gives the throttle a more direct response, while Rain mode is designed to provide extra help when road grip is limited.

Moto Guzzi also plans to offer optional accessories, including pictogram-based navigation and a quickshifter. A quickshifter can help riders change gears without using the clutch in certain situations.

The company plans to offer The Trip in three colours and will also release a limited special edition called “The Opening.” The motorcycle made its world debut at EICMA in Milan and is expected to reach authorised dealers in early 2027. Moto Guzzi has not announced a price. For comparison, the announcement lists the Aprilia Tuono 457 at €6,599 in Germany; that is a price for the Aprilia, not a confirmed price for The Trip.

Moto Guzzi The Trip is a motorcycle rather than a car, but its focus on approachable controls, practical everyday use and modern features reflects a wider trend in transportation: making vehicles easier to live with, not just more powerful. The key details to watch as the launch gets closer are its final price, the exact equipment included as standard and how the production version compares with the company’s claims about comfort and smooth power.
